Man shocked to find a pea plant growing in his lung…
We’ve all heard stories of how people have swallowed apple pips and then an apple tree grew inside them as children, from worried parents who also used to disapprove of ski chalet holidays, but apparantly one man’s body has played home to a plant.
A supposed cancer suffer, was preparing himself for the worst when he was told by doctors that there was a growth in his lungs, but after tests were carried out, it was discovered that a pea plant had sprouted in his lungs. Ron Sveden, from Massachusetts, had been suffering from Emphsyma when he had to undergo tests when his lung collapsed. Doctors carried out initial tests and discovered a growth, Mr. Sveden had begun to brace himself thinking that he had developed cancer in his lungs. However it was then discovered that the growth was not cancerous but in fact a plant which was the size of half an inch, or 1.25cm, which had considered Mr. Sveden’s lung its home.
After the surprising discovery, doctors decided that the plant must have grown due to a pea which “went down the wrong way"and germinated in his lung. Mr. Sveden told reporters “One of the first meals I had in the hospital after the surgery had peas for the vegetable. I laughed to myself and ate them. Whether this would have gone full-term and I’d be working for the Jolly Green Giant, I don’t know. I think the thing that finally dawned on me is that it wasn’t the cancer,"
